32 students from the Master’s Degree in Business and Science in Vineyard & Winery Management of L’École Nationale Supérieure des Sciences Agronomiques in Bordeaux have come to the Alava Campus of the University of the Basque Country to participate in the ‘Wine Management’ subject of the Master’s Degree in Innovative Oenology at the UPV / EHU. Both master’s degrees have an agreement that provides access to a dual master’s degree and provides advantages for joint enrolment and collaboration for the preparation of thesis under joint supervision.
The group of 32 students, from 18 different nationalities, includes diverse professional profiles which coincide due to their interest in winegrowing and winemaking. This versatility extends the professional opportunities in this sector.
In addition to visiting several vineyards and wineries, they went to the Lascaray Research Centre to find out more about the UPV / EHU Sensory Analysis Laboratory and this centre’s scientific facilities on the Alava Campus. The visit was led by those responsible for the Master’s Degree in Innovative Oenology at the UPV / EHU (Patxi Pérez Elortondo, Iñaki Etaio and Azucena Vicente). They also visited the Neiker facilities and the HAZI Foundation, which are collaborators of the Master’s Degree programme at the UPV / EHU.
The theory classes of the Master’s Degree in Innovative Oenology take place from January to June and are later completed with work placements in wine companies and an End-of-Master’s thesis.
